Yuletide Letter 2025

Dear yuletide writer,

 

If you've arrived here, it means we share an interest. Nice! Please see below for what I generally like in fic just in case you need a direction to go in - however if you have an idea already, by all means run with it! I enthusiastically opt in to receiving treats.

 

General likes: romance, comedy, angst, boring day-in-the-life fic, epic crushes, mutual pining, characters suffering pathetically under the weight of their feelings, lowkey conflict/misunderstandings, tropes (like pretend dating, hypothermia, five-times, boring office settings, coffeeshops, crossdressing, goofy disguises, only one bed, trapped in a closet etc.), epistolary moments (like fic that includes letters/emails/texts), dealing with internalized homophobia, exploration of canon details. Not all my fandoms fall into this, but a dynamic I love is Neurotic, Faily Guy being pursued by Unfoundedly Confident Guy. 
 

Do Not Want: het fic, sexual violence, pregnancy of any kind, fic about a pairing other than my requested.

Arrested Development

Pairing: Gob/Tony Wonder

After Gob's rival Tony Wonder rebrands himself as the Gay Magician, Gob seduces Tony Wonder (and Tony seduces Gob) as an act of revenge, but the two begin to have feelings for each other. They are tricked into sleeping with each other while wearing masks of each other's faces (because that way it doesn't count?)

 

My favorite thing ever is when Gob, heartbroken, seeks help at a closet store because he thinks it's a conversion therapy company. After recounting the long story of his relationship with Tony and the ensuing heartbreak to the salespeople there, he realizes he is at an actual closet company, so is forced to buy it so none of the employees will tell his secret.

 

I love these dummies. I know there is a ton of excellent fic for this ship already, but that is because it is hilarious and perfect and we need more!

 

Optional prompts:

• In the last episode of the show, Tony and Gob both claim to them have actually been straight this whole time...so they decide to do "just hand stuff" moving forward. I would love a story that picks up from there, where they think doing just hand stuff does not "count". Meanwhile, maybe everyone else easily accepts they are in a relationship or maybe they once again get tangled up with the gay mafia? Or maybe somehow George Michael or Maeby has to step in and save the day. Basically, how does this decision work out for them.
• Tony has always surprised Gob - from hiding in small spaces like suitcases, to impressing him with his illusions, to faking his own death and then showing up to heal Gob's broken heart. How does he keep surprising Gob once they restart their friends with benefits situation?
• Would love to see Gob and Tony trying to sneak around. Meanwhile everyone in their family and social circle are perfectly aware of what's going on and no one cares. Would love to see moments of this, or have Gob outraged that no one is overly invested in his gay drama.
• Texts between Gob and Tony?

 
 

Le Visiteur du Futur | Visitor from the Future (Web Series)

Raph/Mattéo
Here is the webseries for your enjoyment!

 

This French web series is only a few hours in total and while it is seemingly silly at first, the story and themes quickly become complex and serious, and really quite touching. It is one of my top five favorite shows and deals hilariously with time travel, friendship, what it means to be human, wanting to just lie in bed all day but being forced to take on the fate of the world instead, and also fake mustaches. Give it a try – I bet you will love it!

 

The show follows normal guy Raph, who becomes entangled in a plot to save the world. Along this journey, he meets Mattéo, who is assigned to be his body guard. Eventually he becomes one of his partners in stopping world-ending disasters before they happen. Raph and Matteo have so much potential! They share a bed! Matteo walks naked into the shower when Raph is brushing his teeth! Matteo says he dreams about him...a lot.

 

Optional prompts:

• Living together, especially with Mattéo’s habit of wandering around unselfconsciously nude, means Raph is constantly on-edge and overwhelmed with lust. Will he act on his feelings??
• When the course of time is changed, Raph remembers Mattéo while Mattéo's memories have disappeared. Maybe Raph mopes about this, and maybe Judith can't stand how annoying he's being, so orders Mattéo to cheer Raph up. And of corse he takes "cheer him up" an order to get Raph laid. And who better to do it than him?
• When Mattéo tells Raph he dreams about him, specifically what does he dream about? He decides to make these dreams a reality. 

I just love the idea of Raph having an identity crisis as Mattéo calmly tells him he’s into him. I also love the idea of the Visiteur commenting on the relationship in a nonjudgmental way while Raph tries to hide it, or Henri giving some impassioned speech about humanism. Canonically everyone is bi in the future! I absolutely love Judith but also I don't want to read her involved in this pairing. I would also be very happy to receive a fic in French instead of English if you happen to be a French speaker!

 

 

The Epic of Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh/Enkidu

 

My current obsession! How had I not read this incredible love story until this year? I've read a number of translations so far and would love to read fic exploring this, the most epic gay romance!!!

For those unfamiliar, the gods send Enkidu to challenge a tyrannical king, Gilgamesh, but after fighting they become besties (or LOVERS?). They go on adventures together until tragically Enkidu is killed by the gods, and Gilgamesh spends the rest of the story crazy with grief, wondering how he can go on living without Enkidu. He tries to find a cure for death and also getting angry that people haven't heard of Enkidu. It's very sad and very touching. Bonus: the end of the story is where the flood myth in the bible comes from. (This is my silly summary, please go read Gilgamesh to experience the full amazingness of this tragedy.)
 

Optional prompts:

• Would love anything that focuses on the time between their meeting and Enkidu's death. Life at court, time between adventures or time on the road. Anything would be amazing!
• In the story, Gilgamesh had a prophetic dream about meeting Enkidu and tells his mom about it. His mom is like "yeah you are destined to meet your other half" or something. Maybe a story featuring her POV? 
• Gilgamesh starts out as a notorious tyrant and womanizer. How does his life change once he falls in love with Enkidu????
• Feel free to explore any line or fragment of this work that has caught your interest
